Τα Βραβεία Grammy 2022 φέτος λάνσαραν μία διαφορετική διαδικασία για την επιλογή των υποψηφιοτήτων φέτος – πηγαίνοντας σε μία γενική ψήφο εξαλείφοντας τις αμφιλεγόμενες «μυστικές επιτροπές» που είχαν επιμεληθεί τις τελικές λίστες τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες – και παρόλο που οι κορυφαίοι υποψήφιοι ήταν αρκετά ανεμενόμενο, ο κορυφαίος απ’ όλους σίγουρα δεν ήταν.
Ο Jon Batiste – βετεράνος jazz keyboardist, μουσικός διευθυντής του «The Late Show with Stephen Colbert» – ηγείται τα Βραβεία Grammy 2022 με 11 υποψηφιότητες, κυρίως λόγω του άλμπουμ «We Are», αλλά και για τη μουσική του στην ταινία «Soul». Στη συνέχεια, ακολουθούν οι Justin Bieber, Doja Cat και H.E.R με 8 υποψηφιότητες και οι Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo με 7 υποψηφιότητες.
